About Me

Mickael Gomes

Earth, 37 years old and many more to go

I'm a senior frontend contractor based in Corsica, working fully remote with US, UK, and EU clients for the past 9+ years. My best work happens on long-term engagements — 12+ months — where I take full frontend ownership from day one. Rebuilds, 0-to-1 launches, stabilisation work. Recent: shipped Mini Studio's AI-cartoon MVP in 14 days as their first frontend engineer; led the 4-year rebuild of Football Index's real-time trading platform, growing the team from 0 to 10. In parallel I ship my own products — Job Lens AI on the Chrome Web Store, SDS Sentinel deploying May 2026.

I'm OS Agnostic

I have a Dell XPS 13" and a MacBook Pro 16 and have been programming on both without any issue, as for linux I've been using it for 5 years at school. I'm more a Windows guy but I hold no grudge against Apple, so I'm totally fine criticizing and throwing memes on any side when the opportunity presents itself. I'm also the proud owner of a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge 49" Dell screen which is a plus for productivity.

I also have portable screen in case I have to work outside and both a recent and an old smartphone for testing the responsiveness of the sites I work on.

EDUCATION

From Biology to Computer Sciences

Beijing Jiaotong University

To test my adaptation skills, I decided to go study in China because it was the destination with the most cultural differences compared to Europe. That's how I happened to study in Beijing Jiaotong University. During that year I had the opportunity to work on many small projects (IoT, mobile app, etc...) and a small tower defense game using unity 3D. On that last project I decided to take care of the creep design by extracting the 'Warcraft 3' game units models and applying them to our games units.

EPITECH - Masters Degree: Computer Sciences

I knew that the best way to learn computer sciences effectively would be through practice. EPITECH being a project oriented school I knew it would fit my requirements. While I was there I had the opportunity to work on various projects using a different sets of technology. Those 5 years spent practicing and working in 5-6 people teams allowed me to gain the experience needed to create and lead my own team to work on our graduation project 'Orphée' over two years.

Lycée Marie-Curie - Degree: Biology

After obtaining my High School Diploma with mention, I wanted to keep pursuing my studies in this area by obtaining a BTS (Superior Technician Diploma) in two years. During those two years I did two internships in a laboratory and an hospital that made me realize that the job I was aiming at didn't have a future since this industry is getting more and more mechanized. So after obtaining my BTS, I decided to go for computer sciences which I had discovered a few months before and enjoyed a lot.
